Astotin Lake Canoe Adventure, 5 hours

Explore the watery habitats of Elk Island National Park, a wilderness oasis just 40 minutes east of Edmonton. After basic instructions you glide quietly over Astotin Lake with it's many bays and islands and over 200 species of birds. This excursion is ideal for beginners, it includes transportation from Edmonton, 2-person canoes and interpretation.

1:30 pm meet at Whitemud Park for the transfer to Elk Island Park
Approximately 2 hours of paddling on Astotin Lake
6:00 pm arrive back at Whitemud Park

See Edmonton from a different vantage point while enjoying a fun, morning paddle down the North Saskatchewan River. In many ways this ancient pathway remains as it was hundreds of years ago. Through legends and local history you gain insights into the rich history of Edmonton's river valley. This guided trip, suited for the inexperienced paddler, includes transportation, 2-person canoes with necessary equipment and the guide.

Spirit of the Saskatchewan, 2 days

The North Saskatchewan River, flowing eastward from the Columbia Icefields into the Hudson’s Bay passes on its long journey through several ecological zones from the high alpine through boreal forest into aspen parkland. It was an important transportation route of the fur traders 150 years ago. Abandoned forts, gold mining camps are reminders of a colorful history. This overnight canoe trip is the ideal short nature escape as well as an introduction to river paddling and wilderness camping.

Saskatchewan River boating, paddling

5-Day Athabasca River Wilderness Trip

An action filled adventure starting Saturday morning in Edmonton with a 4-hour drive into the foothills for canoe instructions and training on a lake. Next day we launch the boats near the town of Hinton and from now on there is no looking back until we reach the end of the trip 160 kilometers and four days later. Beginners are welcome and will learn as they go while there are plenty of challenges for experienced paddlers. This is a wildernmess trip with three nights camping on islands in the river or secluded spots along the shores. We are back in Edmonton by late Wednesday afternoon.
